Data collection for mobile crowdsensing in the presence of selfishness

Abstract: Mobile crowdsensing is an emerging approach to data collection by exploiting the sensing abilities offered by smart phones and users’ mobility. Data collection can be implemented by exploiting the forwarding opportunities given by the contacts between nodes. However, as cell phones are still resource constrained, most people are socially selfish so that they may not always cooperate with each other in data collection. In this paper, we propose a routing protocol, called Accept aNd Tolerate (ANT), which is tail… Show more

“…In this approach, a node having a strong social relationship in a community can take part in data forwarding for other nodes. Lui et al 46 proposed an incentive scheme to share information that is related to a road accident, road construction and delay in traffic, and so on. Fawaz et al 47 proposed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) scheme to encourage vehicles for cooperation.…”

“…The feasibility of several DTN data routing approaches, including epidemic routing, PROPHET, spray and wait, profile-cast, and opportunistic geocast, are investigated, and comprehensive analysis of their performance is provided. Reference [20] proposes an Accept aNd Tolerate (ANT) routing protocol to implement data collection in a social environment with selfish individuals. Besides the devices' contact caused by mobility, it also considers the devices' willingness to cooperate in devices selection.…”

“…In a social community, the nodes having a strong social relationship are likely willing to forward messages to one another in a network. Liu et al [27] uses an incentive scheme to share nodes information in the vehicular social network. The information shared is related to road accidents, construction of roads, and traffic delays.…”
