Data on Spectroscopic, Rheological characterization of neem oil and its isolated fractions

Abstract: In this article a medicinal oil (neem oil) is fractionated and compared with original oil. The fractions were separated at low temperature using chloroform and methanol. The uniphase mixture of solvents and neem oil at room temperature was transformed to a bi-phasic system at low temperature. The isolated fractions (NOC – isolated using chloroform; NOM – isolated using methanol) were characterized and differentiated by GC, FT-IR and Rheometer. GC and FTIR have well revealed the difference in composition of fat… Show more

“…This was supported by two peaks, one at 721 cm -1 due to methylene (-CH 3 ) rocking vibrations and the other at 1159 cm -1 due to C-O-C stretching vibrations of esters. These results were similar to the spectra obtained by Bhargava and Madhav who determined the spectroscopic rheological characterization of NO and its isolated fractions and a corresponding C=O stretching at 1750 cm -1 [39]. Additionally, the spectra of neem oil [40].…”

“…The main structure of the peaks of the NeO spectrum was also observed in the NeO-SLNs spectrum including C-H aliphatic doublet peak on 2919 and 2852 and C=O doublet peak on 1712 and C-H bending peak on 1456 (Fig. 2 ), which all matched with existing NeO spectra in previous studies [ 38 , 39 ]. Indeed, no specific interaction was observed between the NeO and the lipids used in the formulations.…”

“…The method used for formation of fatty acid methyl esters was an acid catalyzed method. 6 The fatty acid transformed to its saponified derivative was investigated through GC-MS equipment (Thermo Trace 1300 GC coupled with Thermo TSQ 800 Triple Quadrupole MS; Software -Xcalibur 2.2 SP1). The Investigational conditions for GC-MS system (discussed somewhere else also) 6 are as follows:-Column used -TG 5MS (30 m * 0.25 mm, 0.25 mm; Thermo Fisher Scientific, USA).…”
