Dataset for laboratory treatability experiment with activated carbon and bioamendments to enhance biodegradation of chlorinated ethenes

Abstract: This dataset describes the outcome of a laboratory trichloroethene (TCE) treatability experiment with liquid activated carbon and bioamendments. The treatability experiment included unamended microcosms, bioamended microcosms with a Dehalococcoides containing culture and electron donor, and bioamended microcosms including liquid activated carbon (PlumeStop®). Data were collected frequently over an 85-day experimental period. Data were collected for the following parameters: redox sensiti… Show more

“…This was supported by low concentrations of VC and by isotope mass balances that were a few ‰ more negative than the equilibrated initial δ 13 C value in each bioaugmented microcosm (data not shown). The carbon isotope fractionation for TCE could also be used to quantify the degradation rates (0.05-0.09 d -1 ), which compared well with concentration based estimations (0.09-0.13 d -1 ) (Ottosen et al, 2021). Hence, the laboratory treatability experiment results demonstrate fractionation caused by TCE degradation.…”

“…The microcosms were monitored for the same parameters as applied in the field, over an 85-day period. See (Ottosen et al, 2021) for a detailed description of the setup and sampling procedure.…”
