“…These pathways are crucial for organisms to keep normal growth functions (Gao et al, 2013). In other aquatic species, ELD or ELOD genes' functions are also frequently related to growth (Zhang et al, 2017;Wang et al, 2018b). Hence, hybrids' growth heterosis could result from their similar growth-related functions with the more robust progeny, or their transgressive functions beyond both parents.…”

“…Soft‐shelled turtle ( Pelodiscus sinensis ) is a commercially important aquatic species in China, Japan, and Southwest Asia, etc., due to its delicious taste, its high nutritional (high protein and low fat) and medicinal value (decreasing blood pressure, anti‐aging, anti‐fatigue, and helping to enhance immunity) . In China, there is a large market for soft‐shelled turtle, yielding more than 350 000 tons annually . Carapax Trionycis (the shell of the soft‐shelled turtle) is the main by‐product of soft‐shelled turtle industry, which is regarded as waste and typically discarded, resulting in resource wasting and environmental concerns.…”

“…In fact, Carapax Trionycis exhibits potential nutraceutical effects and contains various types of bioactive components, such as minerals, collagen proteins, essential amino acids, polypeptides, polysaccharides, and iodine . Moreover, Carapax Trionycis has a long history in Chinese medicine, and has been proven to have effects such as anti‐fibrosis, anti‐tumor, immune regulation, and bone mineral density enhancement . Carapax Trionycis has a considerable calcium content (22%) and has been reported to increase bone density in rats…”
