Deciding on Copyrights on the Internet with the Analytic Network Process

Abstract: The analytic network process is a powerful tool for examining difficult decisions under uncertainty. This paper explores the urgent decision connected with the copyrights on Internet. This theme is being widely discussed, but nobody knows, what to do. We have attempted to do a multi‐criteria analysis of the problem, taking into consideration benefits, costs and risks. As alternatives, we examined different measures for the regulation of Internet content, and as main actors—content creators, customers and provi… Show more

“…Because of the capability of quantifying the subjective criteria, examining difficult decisions under uncertainty, and simplicity, these techniques are used in many research papers in a wide variety of fields. For example, AHP and ANP models are applied in construction project (Gashaw & Jilcha, 2022), financial investment (Çalık et al, 2019), location problem (Bottero & Ferretti, 2011), supplier selection (Kasirian et al, 2013), scheduling (Momoh & Zhu, 2003), performance indicator selection in the healthcare sector (Khan et al, 2022; Moons et al, 2019), deciding on copyrights on the Internet (Andreichicova & Andreichicov, 2012), and industry 4.0 implementation (Nimawat & Gidwani, 2021). Due to their applicability in variety of areas, some studies have proposed the algorithms to ease the process of the AHP and ANP structure design (e.g., Ergu et al, 2011; Khademi et al, 2012).…”

“…The Analytic Network Process (ANP) and a specific subset of the ANP termed the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) are robust decision making methods that have been applied in diverse areas ranging from conflict resolution (Saaty and Zoffer, ) to internet copyright decisions (Andreichicova and Andreichicov, ) to group decision making (Mu et al, ). The theorems and axioms of AHP/ANP were developed by Thomas Saaty (Saaty, , , ; Saaty and Vargas, ; Saaty and Vargas, ) who combined principles from mathematics and psychology into a comprehensive decision making process capable of measuring and combining tangible and intangible criteria.…”
