Degradable and electrically conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/sigma cell cellulose polymer composites

Abstract: Degradable poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanocomposites containing sigma cell cellulose (SC) were prepared by in situ polymerization and then characterized by Fourier transform infrared, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, and X‐ray diffraction methods. Morphology was studied using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The formation of PEDOT/SC (PESC) composites were examined by thermogravimetric analyses. Results indicated a strong interaction between PEDOT and SC. Temper… Show more

“…Additionally, the bands located at wavenumber 1530 and 1335 are for the CC and CC of the quinoidal structure of the thiophene ring. Other characteristic bands include 1054 cm −1 , which corresponds to the COC stretching of the ethylenedioxy group of PEDOT and ∼1200 cm −1 , which can be attributed to either the ethtylene dioxy group or the OSO (sulfonate) of PSS . On the other hand, the spectrum of wood microfibers was identified by a broad hydroxyl band around 3300 cm −1 .…”
