Degradation of the herbicide isoproturon by a photocatalytic process

Abstract: In this study, the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of isoproturon (one of the most widely used herbicides in agriculture) was investigated in an annular photoreactor packed with a TiO 2 photocatalyst. The results highlighted that the monolayer Langmuir adsorption isotherm model was well obeyed. The isoproturon adsorption equilibrium constant was determined experimentally. The codegradation of isoproturon and of other copollutants such as salicylic acid and phenol occurred, demonstrating that within t… Show more

“…Photocatalysis is one of the AOPs, which allows the degradation of a wide variety of organic pollutants at low concentrations. [71][72][73][74] Accordingly, the coupling plasma followed by photocatalysis processes is proposed. Thus, solutions of levofloxacin at different concentrations were treated by photocatalysis using 20 mg of Degussa TiO 2 -P25 as photocatalyst.…”

“…Depending on the mode of operation, different types of photocatalytic reactors are available such as batch reactor or continuous reactor or recirculation mode of reactor (Thomas et al., 2014). The design of the reactor also plays an important role in deciding the final efficacy of the treatment.…”
