Abstract: Primaquine (PQ) is the main drug used to eliminate dormant liver stages and prevent relapses in Plasmodium vivax malaria. It also has an effect on the gametocytes of Plasmodium falciparum ; however, it is unclear to what extent PQ affects P. vivax gametocytes.
