Demographic Potential as the Basis for Spatial Differentiation of the Financial Situation Communes of Eastern Poland in 2009-2018

Abstract: The resources of labor and endogenous capital in these communes are shrinking due to wash-out effects. The aim of the article is an attempt to identify demographic factors influencing the spatial differentiation of the financial situation and an attempt to establish a relationship between the demographic situation of communes and their financial situation. Design/Methodology/Approach: The choice of variables in 2009-2018 was largely conditioned by the availability of data collected in the municipal system at t… Show more

“…, m; maxx ij is the maximum value of the j-th variable; minx ij is the minimum value of the j-th variable; x ij is the value of the j-th variable for the object [29,41,51]; Z ij is the normalized value of the j-th variable for the object. Its aim was to standardize the nature of the variables, bring the different variables to mutual comparability, and replace the different ranges of the variability of individual variables with a constant range [46,52,53]. The value of Z ij was in the range [0; 1].…”

“…The normalization of diagnostic variables, by the zeroed unitarization procedure, was performed depending on their types, according to the following formulas [ 42 ]: where: S—stimulant, D—destimulant; i = 1, 2 … n; j = 1, 2 … m, maxx ij —maximum value of the j-th variable, minx ij —minimum value of the j-th variable, x ij —is the value of the j-th variable for this object, Z ij —the normalized value of the jth variable for this object (belongs to the interval [0; 1]) [ 59 , 60 , 61 , 62 , 63 ]. …”

“…The aim of the article was to assess the spatial differentiation of ecology and environment of municipalities of the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship in 2010-2020 using a synthetic measure. The indicated objective was realized by analyzing statistical data to identify the processes of change taking place in the analyzed area, construction of a synthetic measure allowing linear ordering of the studied units [2][3][4][5][6][7][8].…”
