Digital dental models are widely used compared to dental impressions or plaster-dental models for occlusal analysis as well as fabrication of prosthodontic and orthodontic appliances. The digital dental model has been considered as one of the significant measures for the analysis of dental occlusion. However, the process requires more computation time with less accuracy during the re-establishment of dental occlusion. In this research, a modern method to re-establish dental occlusion has been designed using a Reconstructed-based Identical Matrix Point (RIMP) technique. The curvature of the dental regions has been reconstructed using distance mapping in order to minimize the computation time, and an iterative point matching approach is used for accurate re-establishment. Satisfactory restoration and occlusion tests have been analyzed using a dental experimental setup with high-quality digital camera images. Further, the high-quality camera images are converted to grayscale images for mathematical computation using MATLAB image processing toolbox. Besides, 70 images have been taken into consideration in which 30 planar view images has been utilized for experimental analysis. Indeed, based on the outcomes, the proposed RIMP outperforms overall accuracy of (91.50%) and efficiency of (87.50%) in comparison with conventional methods such as GLCM, PCR, Fuzzy C Means, OPOS, and OGS.

Background Plaque quantification indices are frequently used to evaluate personal oral hygiene. Education in self-care and self-diagnosis is effective in prevention and control of both dental and periodontal disease. Mobile technology has become a ubiquitous technology and can be particularly useful in the self-monitoring of health promotion. To evaluate the selfie dental plaque index compared with O´Leary index (DPI) and visible plaque index (VPI). The secondary outcome was to compare full-mouth and anterior teeth plaque index analysis. Material and Methods A sample of 47 adults were evaluated using a four-stage protocol. All teeth (except third molars) were analyzed for VPI and DPI. A selfie Digital Camera captured the image of the patient’s smile (without and with disclosing solution), which was analyzed using Image J software (ImageJ 1.52a, National Institutes of Health). Adobe Photoshop software (Copyright © 2020 Adobe) was used for individual segmentation. The calculation of the selfie index of visible plaque (SVPI) and disclosed (SDPI) was done through the area with plaque of each image in relation to the total teeth area. Results Spearman’s correlation test showed a moderate correlation between VPI and SVPI (rho = 0.6, p <0.001), whereas between DPI and SDPI the correlation was weak (rho = 0.2, p = 0.13). The correlation between the plaque index using all the teeth present, showed a strong correlation with the analysis only of the anterior teeth (rho = 0.8, p <0.001). Conclusions Our results showed the potential of smiling images as a new tool for quantitative measurements and showed moderate correlation when compared with the visible plaque index. Anterior teeth provided reliable plaque indexes when compared with full mouth analysis. Key words: Dental Plaque Index, dental hygiene, mHealth, health Promotion, oral Health.

TOMON (Tooth Monster Hunter): Educative Media for Teaching Toothbrushing to Children

Background: This study presents "Tomon" or Tooth Monster Hunter for assisting the parents or medical staffs to help children for learning proper brushing skills. The importance of maintaining oral health needs to do since the best time to instil the values of positive behaviour maintaining dental health is the age of children. The problem within the oral counselling method is that cannot change the dental health behaviour of children. Method:The research is an experimental study with a pre-test and post-test control group design. Ourresearch uses a technological approach to create educational wearable sensor for children. This experimental method is testing cause and effect. The cause in this research is the Tomon game and the effectis dental health status. We also analyse the brushing behaviour change of the children. Results:The results show that Debris Index of the experimental group change from the moderate category which is 66.7% and poor category which is 33.3% to all good category. In the control group, there is a change from the poor category which is 66.7% and the moderate category in 33.3% to all good category. The statistical analysis show that there is a significant change influence of Tooth Monster Hunter in the brushing behaviour of children. Conclusion:The research suggest Tomon improve the health promotion towards the children's dental and oral health.
