Der Einflu� der Kontraktion auf den Temperatur- und Feldst�rkeverlauf vor der Kathode

Abstract

~vVie WEIZEL, ROMPE und SCH6N gezeigt haben, h~,ngt der niedrige Kathodenfall des Lichfbogens mit der Einschnfirung der S~iule vor der Kathode zusammen, indem der Spannungsbedarf des Raumladungsgebietes mit wachsender Stromdichte bis zu einem gewissen Minimalwert absinkt. Der Obergang yore Entladungsquerschnitt der S~Lule auf denjenigen der schmalen Raumladungszone unmittelba~ vor tier IKathode erfolgt in einem ausgedehnten Bereich der Siiule, dem ,,Kontraktionsbereich", der bisher als W~irmeleitungsgebiet bezeichnet wurde. W~ihrend das Raumladungsgebiet theoretisch behandelt ist, liegen noch keine klaren Vorstelhmgen tiber den Kontraktionsbereich .vor. Wir untersuchen daher im folgenden dieses Gebiet, Es zeigt sich, daB unter den in der Arbeit vorausgesetzten Verhiiltnissen eine Gesamtkontraktion auf 1/200 des S~iulenquerschnittes erzielt wird und damit die Stromdichte auf etwa 3 5 000 Amp/cm ~ anwiichst. Die Temperatur steigt mit zunehmender Einschniirung vor der Kathode ant das Anderthalbfache tier Siiulentemperatur an, was eine erhebliche Verstiirkung der Leuchtdichte (Brennfleckbildung) zur Folge hat. Die mittlere Feldst~irke nimmt mit der Kontraktion ebenfalls zu, jedoch keineswegs proportional zur Stromdichte, da die erw~ihnte Temperafurerh6hung eine betr~ichfliche Verbesserung der Leitf~ihigkeit bewirkL So erreich% die Feldstiirke an der Grenze I(ontraktionsbereich---Raumladungszone gerade den 4 bis 5fachen Wert deg S~iulengradienten, w~ihrend die Stromdichte auf den 200fachen Betrag angewachsen ist. Der Gesamtspannungsbedarf der Kontraktion berechnet sich auf 4 bis 5 V. Die Ergebnisse der Rechnung sind in beiriedigender 13bereinstimmung mit den experimentellen Kenntnissen.
