“…Sandpaper alone is not aggressive enough to remove deeper areas of fibrosis. It is necessary to combine the sanding procedure with CO 2 dry ice freezing 16 or to use the motor‐driven diamond fraise 12 . The use of occlusive dressing was critical during this early stage of wound healing.…”

“…Repeated cycles of dry ice freezing and abrasion were completed until the resurfacing had proceeded below the depth of the fibrosis or clumps of sebaceous glands became visible (Figure 1b). This usually took three to four freeze–plane cycles 16 . The junction between the TCA peel and laser resurfacing was blended with dermasanding 17 …”

“…In a recent issue of Dermatologic Surgery , Drs. Fulton and Rahimi 1 write that “chemical peel or laser resurfacing is not adequate to plane down significant acne scarring” and suggest that dermabrasion after skin freezing with dry ice is adequate for this purpose. In my experience and that of others 2 , the erbium:YAG laser is sufficient to remove as much skin as is necessary to smooth out the small superficial acne scars (type I, see below) that are amenable to any type of skin resurfacing.…”

“…Os agentes esfoliantes superficiais têm sido comercializados mais do que qualquer outro composto porque, quando são usados isoladamente, têm um perfil de segurança favorável e ocasionam pequeno risco de reações adversas (FULTON and RAHIMI, 1999), (PUGLIESE, 2002).…”
