It evolved from an academic network for simple text files exchanges into a multimedia platform that transformed global interaction and disrupted various industries. The Internet's success is attributed to robust technologies, but its inflexibility led to its "ossification." Network programmability, allowing software development on network devices, is revitalizing the Internet.
