Abstract: It has been shown that, under belief-propagation (BP) decoding, random-coset GF(q) low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes and irregular repeat-accumulate (IRA) codes with q-ary nonuniform signal constellations approach the unrestricted Shannon limit.
