Design and Implementation of an Open Source Framework and Prototype For Named Data Networking-Based Edge Cloud Computing System

Abstract: Named data networking (NDN) and edge cloud computing (ECC) are emerging technologies that are considered as the most representative technologies for the future Internet. Both technologies are the promising enabler for the future Internet such as fifth generation (5G) and beyond which requires fast information response time. We believe that clear benefits can be achieved from the interplay of NDN and ECC and enables future network technology to be much more flexible, secure and efficient. In this paper, therefo… Show more

“…In the multi-population evolutionary operation, we assume that populations are independent of each other in selection, crossover, and mutation operation. So, for each population, we evolve individuals according to the selection, crossover, and mutation operations described above, and get a new generation of population (lines [8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. We control population connections and coevolution through population migration.…”

“…MEC is a promising enabler of future Internet such as the fifth generation (5G) [ 14 ], enabling multiple future 5G applications and network services such as IoT applications, haptic Internet, AR/VR use cases, or remote driving [ 15 ]. Computation-intensive applications, such as AR and VR, require a lot of computation in a very short period of time, which need very high computing power.…”

“…In AR, real-time feedback for the end user is required and, to fulfil this requirement, there is a need to process huge amounts of data very quickly. To support these kinds of services, edge computing is a promising concept in which highly powerful devices are placed near the end user to process large data quickly and provide this real-time feedback [51,52]. There is a need to further explore the proposed NINQ framework within the edge computing paradigm to potentially support AR-based services.…”

“…As in other content-centric proposals, NDN packets have all inclusive one of kind names, with the goal that Data packets can be gotten, cached, and redistributed in the network [2]. In NDN, the forwarding process, the Pending Interest Table (PIT) is one of the important components [3,4]. Showing up Interest packets are forwarded to the next-hop dependent on a Forwarding Information Base (FIB) [5] lookup only if the PIT finds no pending Interest packet with the same name.…”
