Design and Implementation of Android Based Wearable Smart Locator Band for People with Autism, Dementia, and Alzheimer

Abstract: A wearable smart locator band is an electronic device which can be worn on the wrist of the children to monitor and keep an eye on them. As the number of mishaps with children is increasing, it is a must to keep them safe. This also helps reducing crime rates. The research study proposed the development of a wearable smart locator band that helps keeping track of kids. The developed device includes an AVR microcontroller (ATmega8515), global positioning system (GPS), global system for mobile (GSM), and switchi… Show more

“…erefore, various types of emergency alert devices have been developed recently for dependent people, including children, people with disabilities, sick patients, and the elderly. e purpose of these devices is to locate the persons involved and monitor their safety and security and increase their quality of life [9][10][11]. Most of them send out an alarm only when help is requested, but some are developed to monitor the health of sick patients such as their blood pressure, heart rate, and so on.…”

“…Another study [10] evaluated the bene ts of using the iPhone 4 by adults who have a slight intellectual disability so that they could be able to send their location using video captions whenever they get lost in public. Goel et al [11] used smart bands as a source of communication between children and their parents so that parents could keep track of their kids. The training of safety skills is often neglected for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).…”
