Abstract:A double staggered metallic rod array (DSMRA) as the slow wave structure (SWS) is proposed for a terahertz backward wave oscillator (BWO) due to its superior properties. The SWS has a wider region of uniform electric field therefore a sheet beam can be used for effective beam-wave interaction. In this paper Pierce small signal theory is used to analyze the performance of the DSMRA sheet beam BWO operating at 0.2THz. Large signal particle-in-cell simulation predicted the sheet beam BWO could radiate >Guo 110W a… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
