Design and Specific Absorption Rate of 2.6 GHz Rectangular-Shaped Planar Inverted-F Antenna

Abstract: <span lang="EN-US">This article presents the investigation of specific absorption rate (SAR) of a rectangular-shaped planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) at frequency of 2.6 GHz. Initially, the design antenna is presented with parametric study concerning the dimensions of antenna patch length, shorting plate, ground plane and substrate. The proposed PIFA antenna has -20.46 dB reflection coefficient and 2.383 dB gain. The PIFA’s SAR is correlated with the antenna gain and excitation power. The analysis shows … Show more

“…Additionally, the impact of WBAN radiation on the human body is characterized by a specific absorption rate (SAR), which must be considered to avoid any effect on the human body, and the value must be a minimum [7]. Several types of antennas have been investigated such as a fully textile patch antenna and other structures of patch antennas [8][9][10][11][12][13], an inverted F antenna planar [14][15], and antennas rela t ed o n integrated waveguides to the substrate, metamaterials are presented [16]. A planar waveguide fed slots and monopole antennas are demonstrated [7].…”

“…There are also standard available to ensure that the radiated emission of any mobile phones comply to the limit regarding Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), which means the unwanted radiated emission from a mobile phone will not have a hazardous impact to human health. SAR is the amount of EM field radiation absorbed by the human body from wireless devices [2].…”
