Design considerations for the SAR antenna for RADARSAT

Abstract: RADARSAT is a low orbit remote sensing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite. This paper summarizes the inter-relationship of radar mapping system requirements and the design of the on-board 18 m SAR antenna. Some aspects of array and reflector antennas are discussed in the context of a system with switched elevation beams.
