Design Method of Constant Phase-Shifter Microwave Passive Integrated Circuit in 130-nm BiCMOS Technology With Bandpass-Type Negative Group Delay

Abstract: The miniaturization and application development are the expected challenges on the today engineering design research on bandpass (BP) type negative group delay (NGD) circuit. To overcome this technical limit, an innovative contribution on integrated circuit (IC) design method of BP-NGD application to design constant phase shifter (PS) in 130-nm BiCMOS technology is developed in the present paper. The BP-NGD PS microwave passive IC is topologically consisted of cascade of CLC-and RLC-resonant networks. After th… Show more

“…Despite the progress of the electronic communication system design, considerable challenges remain to overcome as the issue from the signal propagation delays. To face up such issue, the proposed NGD circuit theory, modeling and design can be practically useful in the society for the improvement of performances of many electronic circuits in the future RF/microwave electronic and communication systems through the following original solutions: propagation signal delay compensation (Broomfield and Everard, 2000; Ravelo et al , 2016); frequency-independent or negligible delay devices as phase shifters and antenna (Ravelo, 2014; Ravelo et al , 2022c, 2022b; Zhu and Wu, 2019; Ravelo et al , 2020a); and communication signal integrity improvement with resonance effect reduction (Ravelo et al , 2021a, 2021b; Chu and Wong, 1982). …”

“…To overcome the biggest challenges on NGD CPS design, further research work on the feasibility of CPS integrated circuit (IC) must be raised. By exploring an innovative LCL-network based topology [26], a 130-nm Bi-CMOS technology-based quadrature CPS was recently introduced to operate with particular value of phase shift φ 0 = −90 • [44].…”
