Design Optimization of a Cartesian Assembly Cell

Abstract: Cartesian Manipulators are still widely used in many application sectors, due to their relatively simple construction and easy controllability. In this work authors present a study concerning the revamping of an existing manipulator, in which it's shown how an integrated mechatronic design affecting structure, actuation and drive system can produce an important increase in terms of performance with near to null costs.
