Desorption chemical ionization and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry of fluphenazine oxide derivatives

Abstract: A series of N-and S-oxides of fluphenazine, and its decanoate ester, have been examined by the relatively new techniques of desorption chemical ionization and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry. Both techniques yielded molecular ion or pseudo molecular ion information, which is not readily obtainable by conventional mass spectrometry. In particular, the advantages of fast atom bombardment are demonstrated.
