Detailed Sponge City Planning Based on Hierarchical Fuzzy Decision-Making: A Case Study on Yangchen Lake

Abstract: Abstract:We proposed a Hierarchical Fuzzy Inference System (HFIS) framework to offer better decision supports with fewer user-defined data (uncertainty). The framework consists two parts: a fuzzified Geographic Information System (GIS) and a HFIS system. The former provides comprehensive information on the criterion unit and the latter helps in making more robust decisions. The HFIS and the traditional Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method were applied to a case study and compared. The fuzzified GIS map… Show more

“…Urban lakes play a pivotal role in reclaimed water resource utilization and the development of urban environments [ 1 ]. In the past few decades, an increasing number of man-made urban lakes used for recreation have been built around city parks in order to increase the quality of the living environment for citizens [ 2 , 3 ]. Recently, urbanization has been improved due to the rapid industrialization in developing countries [ 4 ].…”

“…Therefore, the western countries led by the United States have put forward various rain flood management concepts or practices. The original purpose of the best management measures for rain and flood is to control non-point source pollution through engineering or non-engineering measures (Zhang J et al 2017) [8]. In the course of subsequent development, these measures have been extended from the initial simple engineering or non-engineering measures into systematic measures to complete the systematic control of urban runoff and pollution (Jiang Y et al 2017) [9].…”

“…Researchers have different focuses on zoning functional areas of sponge city [56,57], but they did not consider the issue from the perspective of the integrity of the urban ecosystem. The sponge city is a strategy for integrated urban water management to construct benign interactions between the social-economic system and the urban water cycle [58].…”
