Detection of coupling elements in CESR

Abstract: At the Cornell Electron/positron Storage Ring CESR, the measurement of the coupling between the horizontal and vertical beam motions has led to the ability to locate the position of a coupler and to calculate its strength. Once the identity of a coupler is known, steps can be taken to remove it or to nullify its effect. This coupling analysis can also be used to calibrate correction skew quadrupoles.
