Abstract: BackgroundIn mammalians, hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) arise in the dorsal aorta from the hemogenic endothelium, followed by their migration to fetal liver and to bone marrow. In zebrafish, kidney is the site of primary hematopoiesis.
