Detection of low observable moving target in sea clutter via fractal characteristics in fractional Fourier transform domain

Abstract: Effective detection of low observable moving target at sea is important for remote sensing and radar signal processing. The non-Gaussian property of sea clutter and lack of accurate model make the detection difficult for statistics based detectors. Also the fractal techniques in time domain cannot achieve high detection probability in heavy sea clutter. To help solve the problems, fractal characteristics of IPIX datasets in fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) domain are analysed making use of the fluctuation o… Show more

“…The generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) and marginalized likelihood ratio (MLR) method are proposed for maneuvering target tracking. The MLR test appears to be more efficient than the GLR test assuming more prior information [14]. In this paper, Aiming at the existing problems of current algorithm for maneuvering target tracking, a model adaptive maneuvering target tracking algorithm using IMM based Kalman filters is proposed.…”

“…Usually, the low signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR) environment may result in severe performance degradation of fractal-based detection methods because the fractal characteristic between sea clutter and target in time domain cannot be separated and used for robust detection. Using the Doppler information of the target, we proposed a detection algorithm for the moving target at sea via fractal characteristics in fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) domain [8]. However, the results are mainly based on the validations of real sea clutter data and the calculations can be very time-consuming.…”
