Determination of Changes Occurring Annual Nutritional Contents of Gum Tragacanth (Astragalus gummifer L.)

Abstract: ÖZET: Bu araştırma, Iğdır ekolojik koşullarında yetişen Sakız Geveni (Astragallus gummifer L.) çalısının yıllık besin içeriği değişimini belirlemek için yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçla bitkinin dormant olmadığı Nisan ile Ekim ayları arasında olmak üzere 7 (yedi) ay süresince sap + yaprak örnekleri alınmış ve yem örneklerinin HP (ham protein), NDF (neutral detergent fibre), ADF (acid detergent fibre), ADL (acid detergent lignin), KMS (kuru madde sindirilebilirliği), SE (sindirilebilir enerji), ME (metabolik enerji), K… Show more

“…In this study, it was determined that the dry matter contents of F hay, G hay, and O leaves are higher than A and H hay. As it is known, trees and shrubs have higher DM and fiber concentrations and lower CP concentrations in summer than herbs (Demir and Keskin, 2016;Dökülgen and Temel, 2020). In this study, the CP content of hays ranged from 7.35 to 19.28%.…”

Astragalus species are widely used as a feed source for animals, as a raw material for medicine, dye, textile industry, as a source of nectar for bees, and also in the control of erosion areas (Demir and Keskin, 2016;Keskin and Temel, 2019;Bagheri et al, 2015;Budge et al, 2012;Lee et al, 2007;Abd Kadir et al, 2013). Astragalus brachycalyx, Astragalus gummifer, Astragalus kurdicus, and Astragalus microcephalus species from which gum called tragacanth is extracted are widely found in Turkey, Iran, Caucasus, and Afghanistan regions, and this gum obtained is used in pharmacy, paint and weaving industries (Khan and Abourashed, 2010).…”
