Determination of Heparin Using Norfloxacin-cerium Complex as a Fluorescence Probe by Spectrofluorimetry

Abstract: A simple, rapid, practical and sensitive spectofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of trace amount of heparin (Hep). Under the Optimum conditions, we studied the interaction between NFLX-Ce 3+ -Hep complex by using absorption and fluorescence spectra. It was observed that Hep remarkably enhance the fluorescence intensity of the NFLX-Ce 3+ complex at λ = 356 nm in the buffer solution of pH = 7.60 and the enhancement effect is shown to relate with the concentration of Hep. The linear range an… Show more

“…Different analytical methods such as bioassay [6][7][8][9], electrochemical [10,11], spectroscopy [12][13][14], chromatography [15], flow injection [16], and electrophoresis [17][18][19][20][21][22] have been reported for determination of heparin in pharmaceutical and biological samples and in stability studies so far. In some studies especially in stability studies or monitoring of heparin level in plasma, bioassays such as coagulation tests or ELISA were applied [6][7][8][9].…”

“…In a different work, near infrared reflectance spectroscopy coupled with partial least square algorithm was used as a fast and non destructive tool for evaluation of heparin potency in heparin active ingredient and improving the quality of heparin products [13]. A spectroflourimetric method reported for determination of heparin using a norfluxasin-cerium probe [14]. In the other study, Toida and coworkers described a HPLC method for pharmacokinetic study of heparin in rabbits, in which heparin was enzymatically depolymerized and the major disaccharide was analyzed using flourometric post column derivatization [15].…”
