Determining implementation status of pediatric nurses’ roles and functions

Abstract

ÖzetAmaç:Bu araştirma pediatri hemşirelerinin rol ve fonksiyonlarini uygulama durumlarinin belirlenmesi amaciyla tanimlayici olarak yürütülmüştür. Gereç veYöntem: Araştirma 118 pediatri hemşiresi ile yürütülmüştür. Araştirma verileri "Pediatri Hemşirelerine Yönelik Tanimlayici Bilgiler Formu" ve "Pediatri Hemşirelerinin Rolleri ve Fonksiyonlari Ölçeği" ile toplanmiştir. Elde edilen veriler tanimlayici testler, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve independent samples t test uygulanarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular:Pediatri hemşirelerinin çaliştiği birim ile "Pediatri Hemşirelerinin Rolleri ve Fonksiyonlari Ölçeği" nin alt boyutlari arasinda anlamli bir ilişki vardir(p<0.05). Çocuk yoğun bakim ünitesinde çalişan hemşirelerin "Eğitici ve Araştirmaci Rol", "Rahatlatici Rol" ve "Yönetici ve Koordine Edici Rolü" uygulama düzeyleri daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Sonuç:Çocuk ve ailenin kaliteli bakim almasinda hemşirelerin rol ve fonksiyonlarini uygulamaya yansitmalarinin önemi büyüktür. Bu nedenle hemşirelerin tüm rollerinin farkinda olmasi, tüm rollerini en üst düzeyde uygulayabilecek şekilde eğitim almasi önerilmektedir. AbstractPurpose:This descriptive-type study was conducted to determine implementation status of pediatric nurses' roles and functions. Materials and Methods:The study sample consisted of 118 pediatric nurses. The data were collected using the "pediatric nurses' defining characteristics data form" and" Implementation of Pediatric Nurses' Roles and Functions Inventory". Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the one way anova test and independent samples t test. Results:There was a significant relation between speciality of pediatric nurses and the subscales of "Pediatric Nurses' Roles and Functions Inventory" (p<0.05). The pediatric nurses who work at the intensive care unit have high implementation level for the subscales of the "teacher and researcher roles", comforter roles" and manager and coordinator roles". Conclusion:Pediatric nurses should apply their professional roles and functions for quality of care during the care process of child and family. They should receive sufficient training to high implementation level of the roles and functions.Pam Med J 2017;(2):152-156
