Abstract:South Dade County, Florida, is one of the few areas in the continental United States where winter fruits and vegetables are grown. About 85% of the agricultural area is underlain by Rockdale soil composed of crushed limestone and organic debris. The remainder of the agricultural area is underlain by Perrine marl.
