Co-application of organic-chemical fertilizer (CAOFCF) has attracted wide attention in China in recent years. However, its short-term effect on topsoil quality and maize yield in a medium-productivity meadow-cinnamon soil is not clear. In order to address this problem, a 3-year (2019–2021) field trial was established by arranging the following five treatments: (1) CF, applying chemical fertilizer alone; (2) OFCF1, 15% organic fertilizer + 85% chemical fertilizer; (3) OFCF2, 30% organic fertilizer + 70% chemical fertilizer; (4) OFCF3, 45% organic fertilizer + 55% chemical fertilizer; (5) OFCF4, 60% organic fertilizer + 40% chemical fertilizer. The results showed that short-term CAOFCF treatments were beneficial to the topsoil aggregate stability by increasing the percentage and mean weight diameter of macro-aggregate in topsoil. In addition, lower soil bulk density and higher soil organic carbon sequestration in topsoil were observed under the CAOFCF treatments. There was no difference in rhizosphere microbial diversity among all treatments. Compared to CF, OFCF1 and OFCF2 improved the activities of some key enzymes, including sucrase, urease, and acid phosphatase. Moreover, higher relative abundance of Actinobacteria and Chloroflexi were observed under the CAOFCF treatments. The root-shoot dry matter and maize grain yield were obviously higher in OFCF1 and OFCF2 than in CF; however, no significant difference was found in the OFCF3 and OFCF4 treatments compared to CF. The analysis of correlation suggested that there were no direct correlations between maize yield and various soil indexes measured. Nevertheless, root dry weight and root-shoot ratio were positively correlated with the activities of urease and sucrase. Meanwhile, the relationships between root dry weight, root-shoot ratio, shoot dry weight, and grain yield were all significant. In conclusion, short-term co-application of organic and chemical fertilizer (i.e., replacing 15–30% chemical fertilizer with organic fertilizer with an equal N rate) was beneficial to soil properties and maize grain yield in a medium-productivity meadow-cinnamon soil. The higher grain yield was associated with a strong maize root system, which was driven by the improved rhizosphere urease and sucrase activities.

Combined application of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer (CAOFCF) is gaining more attention in sustainable agriculture production. However, it remains unknown whether short-term CAOFCF can improve soil properties and maize productivity simultaneously in a medium-productivity meadow-cinnamon soil. In this study, a 3-year (2019-2021) field experiment was established by arranging five treatments: (1) CF, applying chemical fertilizer alone; (2) OFCF1, 15% OF + 85% CF; (3) OFCF2, 30% OF + 70% CF; (4) OFCF3, 45% OF + 55% CF; (5) OFCF4, 60% OF + 40% CF. The results showed that short-term CAOFCF significantly increased topsoil aggregate stability with higher percentage of macro-aggregate and mean weight diameter in topsoil. Moreover, CAOFCF reduced soil bulk density and increased SOC sequestration in topsoil compared to CF, especially for OFCF3 and OFCF4. Although the soil bacterial diversity of CAOFCF treatments differed no significantly with CF, OFCF1 and OFCF2 obviously increased soil urease, sucrase, and acid phosphatase activities. Additionally, CAOFCF improved the relative abundance of Actinobacteria and Chloroflexi, as well as bacterial functional abundance. Compared with CF, OFCF1 and OFCF2 increased the root biomass, above-ground biomass, and grain yield (p<0.05), but the difference in these indexes among CF, OFCF3 and OFCF4 were not obvious. The correlation analysis indicated that there is no direct correlation between soil properties and grain yield. Nevertheless, the soil urease and sucrase activities were positively correlated with root biomass and root to shoot ratio, and root biomass and root to shoot ratio were positively correlated with above-ground biomass and grain yield. Overall, short-term CAOFCF with lower application amount of organic fertilizer (i.e. 1.36-2.72 Mg ha ) can improve topsoil physicochemical properties, soil enzymatic activities, as well as maize productivity in a medium-productivity cinnamon soil, the higher crop productivity was mainly attributed to the improved root system driven by urease and sucrase activities.

The features for assessing the authenticity of wines by region of origin are studied, based on the relationship between the mineral composition of the wine, the grapes, and the soil profile (0 to 160 cm) from the place of growth of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Soil, grape, and wine samples were taken from the territories of six vineyards in the Anapa district of Krasnodar Territory, Russia. Using the methods of ICP-OES, thermal, and X-ray phase analysis, the soils were differentiated into three groups, differing in mineralogical and mineral compositions. The soil samples of the first group contained up to 31% quartz, the second group up to 25% quartz and 19% mixed calcite, and the third group up to 32% calcite and 15% quartz. The formation of the elemental image of the grapes was studied, taking into account the total content and mobile forms of metals in the soil. The territorial proximity of the vineyards did not affect the extraction of elements from the soil into the grape berry, and the migration of metals for each territory was selective. According to the values of the biological absorption coefficient, the degree of transition of metals from the soil to a berry was estimated. For K, Ti, Zn, Rb, Cu, and Fe in all berries, the coefficient was higher than 1.00, which means that the berry extracts contained not only mobile-form, but also difficult-to-dissolve metal compounds. The migration of macro-components from the soil to the berry was low, and amounted to 6–7% for Ca, 0.8–3.0% for Na, and 25–70% for Mg of the concentration of their mobile forms. For all territories, the maximum correlation between metal concentrations in grapes and soil was observed for samples from a depth of 0–40 cm. The discriminant model based on concentrations of Rb, Al, K, Sr, Co, Na, Pb, Ca, and Ni showed the formation of clusters in the territories of vineyard cultivation. The developed model allow the problems of identifying wines by region to be solved with high accuracy, using their elemental image.
