A meta-analysis of the relationship between burnout and job satisfaction of educational stakeholders * DOI= 10.17556/jef.47774Ali KIŞ**, Süleyman Nihat ŞAD***, Niyazi ÖZER****, Servet ATİK***** AbstractThis meta-analysis study aims to determine the strength (the magnitude and direction) of the relationship between burnout (subscales of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment) and job satisfaction among educational stakeholders. A total of 24 empirical studies meeting the inclusion criteria were included to the study. The number of participants in these studies was 7.491. A total of 68 effect sizes (correlations) were calculated for each of the subscales of Maslach Burnout Inventory and in total. The findings of the study indicate that there is a negative correlation, towards moderate level, -0,44 [95% confidence interval -0,57 to -0,30] (random effect) between job satisfaction and burnout total score. Due to medium heterogeneity, moderator analyses for subscales of burnout were also done.Keywords: Burnout, Job Satisfaction, Meta-analysis, Maslach Burnout Inventory Özet Bu çalışmanın amacı meta-analiz yöntemi ile eğitim paydaşlarının yaşadığı tükenmişlik (duygusal tükenmişlik, duyarsızlaşma ve kişisel başarı alt boyutları) ve iş tatmini arasındaki ilişkinin etki büyüklüğünü ve yönünü belirlemektir. Among individual variables, several demographic variables (such as age, gender and marital status), personality structure, coping strategies or perceived self-sufficiency have been examined (Boles, Dean, Ricks, Short & Wang, 2000;Burisch, 2002;Dorman, 2003;Griffith, Pennington, Wehner & Rogers, 1999;McElfatrick et al, 2000;van Dick & Wagner, 2001;Yoleri & Bostanci, 2012;Zellars, Perrewe & Hochwarter, 2000). Examining the association between burnout and temperament and character traits of preschool teachers

The aim is to investigate the relationships between the temperament and character traits and burnout dimensions among preschool teachers. In total, 130 preschool teachers participated in this study. All participants were asked to complete the Temperament and Character Inventory, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Findings indicate a positive association between emotional exhaustion and persistence. On the other hand, there is a negative significant correlation between emotional exhaustion and self-directedness (SD). Results conclude that there is a positive significant relationship between depersonalisation and SD, and a positive association between personal accomplishment and harm avoidance (HA). Multiple regression analysis was employed to examine the predictive effect temperament and character traits displayed on the burnout dimensions. Novelty seeking and reward dependence were significant predictors of the emotional exhaustion burnout dimension. Temperament and character traits are not significantly correlated with depersonalisation.
