Fluorescence line-narrowing, often referred to as optical site-selection or energy-selection technique, has been demonstrated and used for a variety of sample media, including frozen alkane solvents (4)(5)(6)(7)(8), alkane single crystals (9), matrix isolation media (10), organic glasses (11)(12)(13), and most recently, in thin-layer chromatographic plates (14).
