Developing an Accessible Landslide Susceptibility Model Using Open-Source Resources

Abstract: Landslide susceptibility models are important for public safety, but often rely on inaccessible or unaffordable software and geospatial data. Thus, affordable and accessible landslide prediction systems would be especially useful in places that lack the infrastructure for acquiring and analyzing geospatial data. Current landslide susceptibility models and existing methodologies do not consider such issues; therefore, this study aimed to develop an accessible and affordable landslide susceptibility modeling app… Show more

“…On account of this, the making of a landside inventory is an important step to landslide susceptibility assessment. Many scholars prepare a landslide inventory using high resolution remote sensing data or aerial photograph interpretation [27,[75][76][77]. Every year the area was affected by several active landslides during rainy season or after a rainy season [78] and therefore, the Google Earth data were used to cover rainfall affected landslides.…”

“…QGIS function is versatile as its capabilities can be extended with plugin software packages or written Python or C++ script for performing some specific functions. QGIS have been employed for numerous landslide studies, for example in [ 47 , 48 , 49 ]. Other GIS software are ArcGIS [ 50 ] and SuperMap.…”

“…The ARIMA model [50] and SVR model [51][52][53][54] are more suitable for short-term prediction. In addition, other scholars applied GIS technology to evaluate landslide susceptibility [55][56][57].…”
