Abstract:Despite their critical roles in tissue repair and pathological processes such as fibrosis, tumor invasion and metastasis, the origins of mesenchymal cells remain poorly understood. Among the likely routes, epithelial to mesenchymal transitions (EMTs) emerge as important source of these cells.
