Development and application of an automated gas chromatographic sampling system for verification of test vapor stream concentrations for chemical sensor studies

Abstract: An automated GC sampling system is described which permits real-time verification of vapor stream concentrations used in the testing and development of chemical sensors. The system consists of a computer-actuated injector loop placed in-line between a VG-400 vapor generator (Microsensor Systems) and a surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor. Optimization of the system was performed by comparing the predicted VG-400 vapor output with the GC-determined vapor stream concentrations. The system was utilized in the ident… Show more

“…Anisotropy in swelling arises from aligned stiff cellulose microfibrils in a swelling polymeric matrix . Till now, biomimetic actuating materials have been developed with the aim of using them as active components for practical and potential applications, such as chemosensors, soft robotics, artificial muscles, drug delivery, etc. They can respond to various stimuli, such as solvents, temperature, light, humidity, redox potential, ion, pH, etc.…”

“…[25][26][27][28][29][30] Metal oxide based chemiresistive gas sensors are easy to incorporate into portable real-time detectors of ECH gas because of their miniaturized size, low cost, simplicity of fabrication, and fast operation. [31][32][33] In the present study, Ag NPs decorated porous SnO 2 structures as low concentration ECH gas sensing detectors were studied. The phase structures and morphologies of the as-prepared product were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, SEM, TEM and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms.…”

“…The analytes used to simulate butter odors included diacetyl, butonic acid, and d-decalactone. In another study in 1998, GC-SAW was used to study the effectiveness of a vapor stream generation instrument [24]. PIB was also the selected polymer coating for the SAW device used in that study.…”
