Development and evaluation of a lead oxide flexible skin dosimeter with a silicon passive layer

Abstract: Normal tissues are also exposed during radiation therapy. In particular, the skin is highly sensitive to radiation. Therefore, care should be taken regarding excessive exposure, and the dose irradiated to the skin should be measured accurately. In this study, a skin dosimeter that can be attached to the human body was manufactured using a silicone binder, and a new type of passive layer using silicon was applied. In addition, the manufactured dosimeter was evaluated to establish whether it could … Show more

“…Note that the established temperature ranges of 350-450 о С, Figure 3, where the structural-optical effect appears, correlates with the manifestation of crystallization properties of lithium-containing compounds. According to a recent paper [8], in which the kinetics of crystallization of Li 2 B 4 O 7 glasses were studied, temperature effects on the differential thermal analysis (DTA) curves were observed starting from 520 to 560 C. Conversely, data from the study of DTA curves of both unalloyed and doped compositions on the Li 2 O-B 2 O 3 section [22][23][24][25] indicate a decrease in the temperature threshold for the appearance of thermal effects to 380-450 C, that is, the crystallization of vitreous samples can start already at these temperatures.…”

“…The study of such phenomena is of particular interest in connection with the prospects of using thin-film structures for dosimetric measurements [5][6][7][8]. Their advantages are compactness, suitability for measuring the absorbed dose in thin layers, particularly in the skin, and so forth.…”
