Abstract:Background: Irinotecan is a promising antitumor agent approved by FDA for intravenoususe in colon cancer treatment either alone or in combination. It is a topoisomerase inhibitor and by blocking the topoisomerase-I enzyme, it causes DNA damage and results in cell death.
