Abstract: Octanoic acid (C8 FA) is a medium-chain fatty acid which, in nature, mainly occurs in palm kernel oil and coconuts. It is used in various products including cleaning agents, cosmetics, pesticides and herbicides as well as in foods for preservation or flavoring.
