“…A 28-item scale developed from qualitative interviews with family caregivers of persons with PD. The Caregiver strain risk screen (CSRS) 95 has a 4-factor structure, including “self-preservation,” “nursing home consideration,” “coping through spirituality,” and “coping through formal support.” The scale demonstrated high internal consistency in a sample of 217 PD caregivers. Content validity was also supported by 13 clinicians.…”

“…One was a secondary analysis of the Parkinson's Spouse Project, which used a series of hierarchical multiple regressions to examine the contribution of age on both protective and negative aspects of the care situation (Carter, Lyons, Stewart, Archbold, & Scobee, 2010). Another was a Caregiver Strain Risk Screen instrument development study that could be used to assess the level of caregivers strain by nurses in health care settings (Abendroth, 2015). Seven studies were conducted in the United States, while others were conducted in the following three countries: Denmark, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.…”

[37][38][39][40] Given the progressive nature of Parkinson's disease and the increasing burden, especially as the patient moves from the maintenance to complex phase, regular assessment of the caregiver's needs in conjunction with referral to additional support services is imperative.…”
