Development and validation of a questionnaire to evaluate overt aggression and reactions to peer aggression

Abstract: This study presents the psychometric properties of the Peer Aggressive and Reactive Behaviors Questionnaire (PARB-Q), a self-report questionnaire to measure child overt aggression (PA) and reaction to peer aggression (RPA). Participants were 587 Italian elementary school children, aged 7-10 years (51.5% female). Exploratory and confi rmatory factor analyses presented a one-factor solution for the PA scale and a three-factor solution for the RPA scale (reactive aggression, seeking teacher support and internaliz… Show more

“…In sum, the structure of the Brazilian version of the PARB-Q was similar to the one described for the Italian version. 26 The PA scale and the RA factor of the RPA scale were correlated with the ASCYP and CBCL instruments, indicating consistency with the intended purpose of assessing aggressive behaviors and aggressive reactions to such behaviors. Also, both the PA scale and the RA factor of the RPA (related to deliberate aggression and aggressive reactions, respectively) were correlated with each other.…”

“…All factors demonstrated acceptable internal consistency indices, similar to those reported for the original instrument. 26 The results of the EFA were corroborated by a parallel Monte Carlo analysis, which has a strong power to analyze the structure of instruments.…”

“…10,52 Moreover, the use of peer measure to cross-validate self-reports appeared particularly interesting according to recent literature. 53,54 The correlations between the HIF subscales and emotional self-efficacy (especially control of NEs) are of particular interest, because we know that self-efficacy affects appraisal processes, which, in turn, guide actions. 35,55,56 Furthermore, a number of the peer-reported measures of emotionality and EC were found to be related to the HIF subscales.…”

“…O presente artigo tem como objetivo descrever os procedimentos de tradução e de adaptação do Questionário de Comportamentos Agressivos e Reativos entre Pares (Q-CARP) (Gremigni, Damásio, & Borsa, 2013) para o português brasileiro, ilustrando, assim, as seis etapas metodológicas propostas por Borsa e cols. (2012).…”
