Development and validation of an LC–MS/MS method for the quantification of artificial sweeteners in human matrices

Abstract: Artificial sweeteners are widely used as substitutes for sugar. The sweeteners are generally considered safe, however their whereabouts during pregnancy and lactation and the effect on child development are poorly explored. There is a need for new tools to measure these substances during pregnancy and lactation. Here, we describe the development and validation of a sensitive liquid chromatographytandem mass spectrometry method for the simultaneous quantification of acesulfame, cyclamate, saccharin and sucralos… Show more

“…AUC ratios may look different if calculated after complete elimination, but this was not possible in our study. Unfortunately, it was not possible to calculate the AUC ratios for sucralose as a majority of the samples fell below the LOQ of the analytical method [22].…”

“…Analytical separation was performed on a Luna Omega C18 column (2.1 × 50 mm, 1.6 µm) (Phenomenex, Copenhagen, Denmark) at a temperature of 30 • C controlled by a column heater. The method is described in detail by Greibe et al [22].…”

“…The RP-HPLC purified sample was analyzed with LCMS/MS (16)(17) and the synthesized antimicrobial peptide (AMP) sample exhibited a wide range of antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus-ATCC 25923/ MCC 2408, Pseudomonas aeruginosa-ATCC 27853/ MCC 2080, Aspergillus niger-MTCC 9983 and Candida albicans-MTCC 183 which represent Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and fungal pathogens. High-performance liquid chromatography authorizes us to separate the peptide mixture, and protein sequence was identified with potential antimicrobial peptide from MS/MS data through de novo sequencing.…”
