Development and validation of HPLC-UV method for the quantitative analysis of carcinogenic organic impurities and its isomers in the sodium polystyrene sulfonate polymer

Abstract: Abstract Sodium polystyrene sulfonate (SPS) powder is in use for over 50 years for the treatment of hyperkalemia. SPS powder is official in United States Pharmacopoeia, British Pharmacopoeia and European Pharmacopoeia. However, till date, no study has been published on the assessment of organic impurities for this drug. The organic impurities in bulk drug and finished product are associated with their safety, efficacy and stability. A simple, rapid, specific, precis… Show more

“…There are several methods of nicotine estimation including gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (GC-FID), 10 and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). 11,12 Since, LC is a workhorse technique used for efficient and tedious analytical procedures, [13][14][15] it has been employed successfully for nicotine quantification in e-liquids such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), 16,17 in addition to HPLC with photodiode array detection (HPLC-PDA). 18,19 HPLC method is the rapid, simple and efficient of all.…”

“…Nicotine concentration has been determined by several analytical techniques including gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (GC-FID) [9], and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) [8,10]. Since LC is a workhorse technique used for efficient and tedious analytical procedures [19][20][21]. It has been employed successfully for nicotine quantification in e-liquids such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) [6,7], in addition to HPLC with photodiode array detection (HPLC-PDA) [13,14].…”

“…Ionizable groups tethered to polymers enable ion transport that in turn propels innovative lightweight energy technologies , as well as groundbreaking biomedical applications. , The ionizable groups drive the formation of ionic clusters, determining the structure and dynamics of the polymers and, subsequently, their ability to transport ions. Most notable is the immense impact even a small number of ionizable groups tethered to the polymer have on constraining the motion of the entire chain, as has been shown by rheology. This restricted motion of the chains often results in far-from-equilibrium trapped states, as macromolecules are processed into viable materials that present a challenge to the formation of well-defined reproducible structures with desired properties.…”
