“…Among common SPE adsorbents used nowadays for separation of metal ions such as carbonaceous adsorbents [8][9][10], other inorganic adsorbents [11,12], polymeric adsorbents [13,14], biosorbents [15,16] and composite adsorbents [17][18][19], the composite adsorbents that consist specifically of a carrier matrix and functional ligands possess essentially a higher selectivity and capacity toward target metal ions over the others. The superiority in metal selectivity mediated by specific metal-ligand interactions based on its chosen building blocks makes the particular kind of adsorbent more practical and economical [19,20].…”

“…As it is evident, the VALLME method has better dynamic range (5-150 µg L -1 ), less toxicity (using ionic liquid as extraction solvent) and simplicity compared to some reported methods. [19][20][21][22] Although the other reported methods [23][24][25] have better dynamic range, limit of detection (less than 1.1 µg L -1 ) and lower relative standard deviation (less than 4%), VALLME has a better enhancement factor (except for flow injection wetting-film extraction system) 23 and relatively high rapidity. Again, because our method has low toxicity, it is possible to state that it is green.…”

“…Solid-phase in-line concentration in flow-based systems was applied for determination of Cd in mg L -1 range in ethanol fuel by FAAS. The studies explored analyte retention in biosorbents such as Moringa oleifera 171 or vermicompost used as garden fertilizer. 172 Cadmium and Pb were also determined in ethanol fuel by GFAAS, exploiting a filter furnace to avoid using chemical modifiers, stabilize the volatile analytes and to short the pyrolysis step.…”
