Development of a High-Beam-Transparency Gridded Electron Gun Based on a Carbon Nanotube Cold Cathode

Abstract: We here report on the development of an improved dual-gridded electron gun based on a carbon nanotube cold cathode that enhances electron beam transparency and reduces grid interception and losses pathways. Compared with microscale tip Spindt-type the dual-gridded construction decreases difficulties of nanomaterial growth, fabrication and assembly. Our experimental findings show that this dual-gridded CNT electron gun can support anode output current (cathode emission current) of up to 700 mA, with a beam-tran… Show more

“…Together with the unique thermal and mechanical properties, this makes it possible to use them as additives to improve the characteristics of piezoresistive elements [17,18], solar energy converters [19], conductive and biocompatible polymers [20][21][22], and energy storage devices [23]. One of the promising applications of CNT is the creation of electronic devices with CNT cathodes as electron sources with a low threshold voltage of field emission cathodes [24][25][26]. Graphene and its derivatives are also widely used in the creation of electronic devices.…”
