Development Of A Sealed Bipolar Li-Alloy/FeS/sub2/ Battery For Electric Vehicles

Abstract: Rapid progress is being made in the development of a bipolar Li-alloy/FeS, battery with molten LiC1-LiBr-KBr electrolyte and MgO powder separator. Such a battery would be operated at 400-425 e C and is expected to attain high performance and long cycle life (>lo00 cycles). An overcharge tolerant cell design safeguards the Li-alloy/FeS, cells in the bipolar battery and allows charge equalization with simple trickle charging.
