Development of a Solid Bioherbicide Formulation by Spray Drying Technology

Abstract: This study aimed to compare the herbicidal activity of solid formulas obtained by spray drying with conventional liquid formulas containing biomolecules produced by submerged cultivation of the fungus Diaporthe sp. in a stirred-tank bioreactor. The solid formula presented the highest phytotoxicity on plant control (96.7%) and the phytotoxicity was directly related to the concentration of fermented broth in the formula. The use of adjuvant improved the efficiency of the bioherbicide. Dry matters of treatments w… Show more

“…(teleomorph of the genus Phomopsis ) belongs to the phylum Ascomycota and presents asexual stages, leading to difficulty in identifying members of this genus at the species level. Numerous studies and reports on the species in this genus, which has enormous biotechnological potential, have been published 28 . It has already been described as a producer of enzymes and secondary metabolites 29 with antibacterial 30 , 31 and antifungal 32 , 33 properties as well as in the phytotoxicity for weeds control 34 37 .…”

“…For instance, phomentrioloxin B induces little necrotic spots on several plant species, and gulypyrone A causes a leaf necrosis symptom on Helianthus annuus 40 . In addition, Almeida, et al 28 investigated the toxicity of the solid bioherbicide formulation developed by Diaporthe sp. on test plants of lettuce ( Lactuca sativa ).…”

“…Solid formulation of culture fluid Diaporthe sp. obtained by spray drying was prepared with adjuvant AgRho FKC, which is known as a glyphosate activator, and silicon dioxide as a filler [ 191 ]. Inuloxin ( 23 ) encapsulated in cyclodextrin retained high activity against Phelipanche ramosa (L.) Pomel weed [ 192 ].…”

“…Твердая препаративная форма культуральной жидкости Diaporthe sp. была получена при помощи распылительной сушки с использованием адъюванта AgRho FKC, являющегося активатором глифосата, и диоксида кремния в качестве наполнителя (de Almeida et al, 2020). Инкапсулированный в циклодекстрин инулоксин сохранил высокую активность в отношении заразихи P. ramosa (Moeini et al, 2019).…”
