BackgroundTechnological developments such as Virtual reality (VR) provide new opportunities to extend and innovate mental healthcare. VR as a tool for clinical assessment has been described as promising, as it can enable real-time assessment within real-like environments or contexts as opposed to self-report and behavioral tasks in laboratory settings.ObjectiveWith this systematic review we aimed to provide an overview of recent studies using VR in the assessment of psychiatric disorders.MethodsA systematic search was performed using Pubmed, Embase, PsycInfo, and Web of Science between 2016 and 2020. Studies were included if they used immersive VR, concerned assessment of psychiatric symptoms/disorders, and included adult patients with psychiatric disorders.ResultsThe search resulted in 3,163 potentially eligible articles, from which a total of 27 studies fulfilled inclusion criteria. Most studies considered anxiety (n = 7), addictive, (n = 7), or psychotic disorders (n = 5). Regarding ADHD (n = 3), PTSD (n = 3), and pedophilic disorder (n = 1), a few studies had been performed since 2016. The majority of the included studies compared patient groups to healthy control groups.DiscussionRecent studies on VR-assisted psychiatric assessments have been conducted to validate VR environments, to assess symptoms for diagnostics or therapy goals, search for biomarkers, and to gain knowledge on psychiatric disorders. VR tasks were able to detect some difference between patient and healthy control groups, mainly with regard to self-report measures. Despite previous, promising prospects, the use of VR as a tool in clinical assessments must still be considered as a field in need of continued developments and evaluations.Systematic Review Registrationwww.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero, identifier: CRD42021233772.

Visual communication is a popular art form that aids in the transmission of information and reflects people’s aesthetic preferences. In visual communication, the graphic element is an important combination element that plays a key role. Virtual reality (VR) technology will become more widely used as computer technology advances and network applications become more popular. As a result, research into VR technology generation and application in packaging design will aid in the popularization and application of VR technology, as well as the advancement of product packaging design. The application of graphic composition art in packaging visual communication design is investigated in this paper. This paper introduces the basic concepts and characteristics of virtual reality (VR), as well as the development and application fields of VR technology, based on the current state of virtual panorama development at home and abroad. It also provides advice and recommendations on graphic creativity in VR technology packaging design, as well as the symbol of graphic creativity and the value of graphic composition art in packaging visual communication design.

Vibrating Tilt Platform Enhancing Immersive Experience in VR

One of the disadvantages of virtual reality systems of the past was the fact that they had visual-only interfaces. However, with the development of haptic technology, peripheral solutions to enhance the VR experience are gaining momentum, and many haptic systems are being developed for deepening VR immersion. This paper deals with the concept of a vibrating tilt platform allowing the change of three angles of inclination to thus reinforce the VR experience. The proposed system is flexible and adaptable to different sports, health, and education applications. In this paper, we present the mechanical and mechatronics aspects of the platform and usability testing results based on an immersive geological experience application. The first tests were studied in terms of the cyber sickness, perceived realism, and anxiety through both subjective (questionnaires) and objective (electroencephalogram) measurements. The results indicate that our platform increased anxiety levels and was perceived as realistic. Adding vibrations and tilting had a considerable impact on the immersion level and brain activity.
