Development of an assay for total vitamin D content in milk and application to study the effect of pasteurisation in breastmilk

Abstract: Vitamin D deficiency has been traditionally associated with bone disorders; recent studies, however, show a relationship to several non-skeletal diseases such as autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases and common cancers. As a result, there has been an increasing global concern on the role of vitamin D in human health. iv
