Development of an educational tool to promote oral health for the elderly

Abstract

The aim of the study was to develop an educational game that aims to promote oral health care for the elderly. This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, with the development of a product to promote oral health for the elderly. A game of questions and answers was then developed, associating images with questions, which addressed topics related to diet, mental health, physical activity, care with complete dentures and prevention of oral diseases. The construction of the game had the collaboration of professors and students of the Dentistry course who participate in the Extension Project “Prevention and Promotion of Oral Health for Elderly Patients”, of the Dentistry course, at the State University of Londrina. Therefore, the educational game developed by this study has become a valuable intervention in oral health for the elderly, with great potential for development, and can be easily reproduced and applied in the most diverse environments.
